Why don't people like the gym?
Since COVID-19, interest in health and fitness has continued to grow,
leading to an increase in both gym participation and the fitness industry as a whole.
However, customer complaints have also become more apparent.
Here are pain points reported by gym users.

01

Expensive Memberships
Gym membership fees continue to rise. Memberships that once cost around $10–20 per month now commonly range from $50 to over $100, creating a significant financial burden for many consumers.

02

Crowded Gyms
Gyms are often overcrowded during peak hours. Many people have to wait for equipment or are unable to complete their planned workouts, making it a major inconvenience for customers, especially working professionals.
04

Too Far Away
Not everyone has a gym nearby. Long travel times and heavy traffic can make regular gym visits inconvenient and discourage consistent exercise.
The Beginner Barrier
Gyms can feel intimidating for beginners. Unfamiliar environments and the presence of experienced gym-goers often create a psychological barrier to getting started.

THEN, Why People Don't Choose Home gym?
For many people who regularly go to the gym, the idea of building a home gym has crossed their mind at least once.
After all, it seems like a convenient solution to many of the frustrations associated with traditional gyms.
However, most people never take the next step and turn that idea into reality.
There are three main reasons why.

1. Lack of Space
Most people simply don't have enough room at home for a dedicated home gym. While some regions, including California, often have garages, these spaces are rarely ideal for fitness equipment and are usually used for storage, parking, or other household needs.

2. High Initial Investment
Home gyms often require users to purchase multiple pieces of equipment rather than a single product. In addition to the equipment itself, delivery and installation fees may also apply. Apartment residents may even need to invest in soundproofing mats. These upfront costs can create a significant financial burden for consumers.
3. Bulky Aesthetics
Most gym and home gym equipment features bulky designs that often clash with a user’s interior space. While aesthetically refined home gym products do exist, they are typically offered by premium brands and can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars per piece. As a result, they are not a practical option for the majority of users.
